I bought one used a year ago. Is it the nicest instrument I own? Heck no, but it's the main guitar I play! I don't have any issue tuning the high E either. The hardware isn't the best. I should probably replace the saddles, but it's not really causing an issue. I have to tune and usually adjust the screw on one, but it stays good and in tune the entire time I play!

Never cared for relics or reverse headstocks, but when I saw a used one on the web site of my local luthier I was stunned. A day later, when I had it in my hands, I totally loved how the neck felt and played. I instantly knew, this is the guitar I'm getting old with. At home I had to notice it was incredibly noisy in my recording environment. But it was not a grounding issue. Back at the luthier, we came to the conclusion to install an active pickup, a Seymour Duncan Blackout for the bridge position. Back home again, I tried it and oh my goodness gracious, does this thing rock. The clarity and presence of every single note in chords is breathtaking and the sustain just won't end. I was floored. We still kept the DiMarzio for the neck, so now I'm having an active/passive hybrid guitar. Going into the first real recording, I noticed tuning stability issues of the low strings, when palm muting. Since I've never been the hyper active whammy user, I didn't hesitate to block the tremolo with a taped stack of coins. I adore the freedom I have on this guitar. No whammy bar and only the one push push knob, so I can powerstrum with nothing in the way.

Hey brother its great to see something recent on this amp. I suggested to a friend/student of mine to pick one up back in '19 after being impressed by Spector Glenns review of it. When he got it we played it and could both agree it sounded decent but only with a TS or something up front. After some time i said fuck it and decided to mod it because after all its at least a good starting point right? I was impressed straight away with the components and PCB, (no SMT shit! good MF resistors, satisfactory electrolytics, Alpha pots and even WIMA caps not to mention very good JJ preamp tubes), this amp is fully serviceable. Too bad no amount of searching produced a schem and the board is 3 layer so 😂 tracing the circuits kinda not gonna happen. Whatever. So to make a long story boring i started reducing the first decoupling stages like i would with a 2203/2204 but that only sent me backwards. After a few days of scratching my head i noticed a couple op amps at the input similar to my old ADA MP1, which led me to think that potentially ones an inverting opamp and i was right. So I changed the 1meg input resistor to 2meg. Wow. Definite improvement. How about 3meg? Damn! Ok lets go 4meg. What the actual fuck??!! Suddenly this amp was in league, no, suddenly it buried 99%+ of all the amps ive ever played!! No, im not the guy thats played 200 of the latest and greatest, ive probably only played 50-60 amps in my 46 years but they were all noteworthy, ie Pitbull, SLO, (real) 1987/ 1959, 2203/2204 modded and stock, Krankenstein, Mesa MKII B, C+ and MK4, u get the idea. I honestly could not believe my ears. All in all i changed all decoupling and cathode caps to Sozo (preference) and modded the boost, push and mid cut circuits to make them actually useable. After hearing it this way my only question was why in blue fuck didn't THEY do this??!!. Truly, and ill swear on both my parents graves about this, 4meg at the input is all thats needed to get a distortion sound better than probably all the recorded high gain sounds youve ever heard and no pedals required! So to conclude, maybe u solder, maybe not, if not u must have a buddy that does. Humour me and try the 4meg, your jaw will drop. Itll literally change your life. P.S. Recto oversized, Marshall MF400, vintage Marshall slant, VHT Fattbottom, forget it. A $200 Marshall MG 4x12 bottom is a practically ideal match for this head. And after you realize im not a mush head just be running my mouth, delete this comment. Itll be our secret 🤘😤🤘

I have the Arctic white and the trem works perfectly. All I have to do is widen the G and B string nut slots and tighten down one of the string trees. 99% of the time it's nut.

The green Jackson letters is the matching paint theme with the body man... black instead of green scribble it's legible...but if they would have made the Jackson letters all brutal metal style that probably would have smoothed the flow instead of looking a little off . I see what your saying.

I got lucky with mine where the nut was cut with greater accuracy and only had to do a little bit of filing on the low G# and C#, but this was really not as bad as what it sounds like you experienced. This said, the low G# is very floppy for the scale length (reminds me of a low B on an Ibanez Axestar 5-string bass guitar). The bridge pieces are funky, the pole pieces (what the strings are resting upon) themselves seem to be held in by gravity and thankfully the two that fell out during a gig just landed on the folding table and not the floor. I wish Rondo were using different bridge hardware with greater break angle (ABM or what Etherial uses on their headless models). This said, I was able to get mine intonated very well and have it stick. The fretwork on mine was ok, mostly needed a little more work on the sides of the neck. The fret leveling was very decent on mine. I also removed the pots and used a pair of concentric pots to give each pickup separate volume and tone control. This said, I personally don’t play with much overdrive and distortion. Phasers, modulation, filters, and delays are more my speed. So, non-djent content from my end. I may change out the pickups for Lace Alumitones in the future.

When I first got the Revv series of pedals the Purple G3 in particular was exceptional. To this day have not seen anything really outdo it. I lost mine in one of those stupid "sell your pedals" for the latest greatest omni unit, mistake. When Sweetwater came up with the rare black version/purple knob had to have another one. This pedal is also dead quiet despite the massive gain structure. Killer pedal killer company!

Your eq is about right. This amp sounds great with active pickups gain dimed master around 4 and volume at 2 or 3. This amp sounds great with elx tubes needs no boost set depth on loose. Best amp ive owned

I have a xxx and a prs archon and i like the xxx better. The archon is great but has too much of a built in noise gate that is non adjustable...

Ibanez really has been out doing themselves lately. I love this thing a lot. Great review! I just got the new Rg-8 with fan frets. (Had the old Rg-8. Got it in about 2016 and it was my main guitar gor years). And let me tell you. With the new Rg-8. Its like they read my mind about all my dislikes and actually addressed them properly. Im in love with my new baby. Theyre very solid instruments.

I've got a 2010 ESP eclipse, and the new CTM with the gold satin finish. To me, the satin finish on top of the type of cut on the higher end of the fret board makes the CTM play smoother, but the ESP build quality is slightly better. Mainly referring to hardware. Can't really gripe though, I live them both.

I ended up with a mediocre counterfeit lol. *The only upside is the knock off EMG's that say EMG sound better than the real thing.* They aren't compressed and don't have the obvious low-pass cutoff point that EMG uses. This thing, on the other hand, *sounds wicked.* *Bear in mind, active pickups don't have to sound compressed whatsoever and I know because I'm a formally educated electrical engineer; just didn't finish the degree so dub me an "amateur" for posterity sake.* The reason you get compression is the Class of active circuit used which I won't even try to understand why they do it other than the original designer wasn't well educated in engineering. *If done correctly, like my active modules, your pickups sound 100% passive except they are cranking out about 5-6 VAC! lol* It's very easy and affordable to achieve this with actives, so I can only speculate as to why companies don't do it and that's likely because they just use an off the shelf schematic with very minor changes.

I bought this guitar back in 2009, the FR version and it also arrived damaged in the same spot.. strange haha. It came with Egnater pickups instead of Randall though, but still playing great to this day.

Just picked up a b stock unit for like $100. New heavy strings and fret polish and it's an amazing guitar. Only thing I dislike is the cheap tuners and the finish cracks at a few of the fret joints. If they bother me maybe ill wet sand it or something.
